Carleen Sheehan

Kongsfjorden 3, June 2017, inkjet print from glacial scan on silver paper, 13 x 19 in.
Glacial Cosmologies series consists of interior views into pieces of recently calved glacial ice in Svalbard, Norway, and Jokulsarlon, Iceland. Sheehan used a waterproof camera with a micro lens setting to shoot this series. The flat shape of the camera allowed her to scan the ice by sliding the lens incrementally along its surface, revealing intricate internal structures called Tyndall Formations.
